Satellite telemetry provides the highest possible level of data integrity and is not subject to limitations such as terrestrial line-of-sight requirements or proximity to existing communications infrastructure.

VERSATILE CYGNUS TRANSCEIVER FOR REMOTE SITES

Each Libra remote site is equipped with a Cygnus 210 transceiver. Designed for seismic and environmental data acquisition, Cygnus can also accept a wide range of IP and serial data types.

The latest model, the Cygnus 210 transceiver, is designed to operate with the Nanometrics Centaur digital recorder and features a 10/100Base-T Ethernet interface and serial port for data input, as well as an antenna connector for TDMA synchronization and a 9–36 VDC input. Cygnus can be deployed for general-purpose IP data transmission, or customers can take advantage of the integrated Apollo data acquisition and communications software. This software includes UDP/IP multicast with application-layer retransmission error correction to provide >99.99% data availability.

CONTINUOUS, RELIABLE TELEMETRY

Libra is an IP communications system that continuously collects data and transmits it in near real time from a remote station directly to a central hub located at the customer’s site via geostationary satellites. It is a straightforward system consisting of remote and central locations, without complex repeater stations or multiple communications links and technologies.

As a private network, Libra is extremely reliable and well suited for mission-critical applications. Unlike the Internet, cellular networks, and public VSAT networks, Libra does not share bandwidth with other users and is not subject to unexpected configuration changes made by other network operators. This combination of factors significantly reduces the workload on your technical support and IT personnel while increasing data availability.
